"No, a bigger sensor is not better. In fact the very argument shows you don't understand how this works. The sensor is one part of the system, and, given that sensors can record more than the lenses deliver, it's the least important part of the system.
The whole fallacy of thinking that a FF sensor is "better" and that you can use one factor -- lens aperture -- to determine the quality of a lens, is easily debunked. Just compare the actual images produced by the larger, heavier, $5600 Canon 200mm f/2 with those produced by the $2800 Panny 200mm f/2.8. To get equivalent IQ, the Canon has to be stopped down to f/5.6 (still not quite as good on the edges but close enough) Compare https://www.imaging-resourc... with https://www.imaging-resourc....
Or compare the Oly 300mm f/4 with the Canon 300mm f/4. On the MTF 50 test the Canon can resolve 35 lpmm. https://www.lenstip.com/211... The Oly, which you claim has to be inferior since it's used on a smaller sensor, resolves almost 70 lpmm. https://www.lenstip.com/478...
I could go on with more examples but it would be pointless. If someone subscribes to a clearly misplaced thesis that "The bigger sensor is at worst always as good as m43", that person isn't going to allow science and facts to get in the way of a good myth."
