DIN носит рекомендательный, необязательный характер.
Есть узкий круг норм, которые относятся к безопасности некоторого оборудования или, например, электротоваров, которые требуют соответствия DIN.
Все основное - дело добровольное.
Мало того, Вы легко можете заказать разработку своего собственного DIN.
В пищевых товарах и товарах легкой промышленности DIN применятся для определения присутствия тех или иных компонентов, примесей и веществ в товарах.
То есть, это просто методика для дальнейшего контроля вредных примесей. Это не регулятор для производства товаров, как раньше был ГОСТ.
