[quot]Autofocus speeds on this premium compact are disappointing compared to its peers. The G7 X lags behind its closest competitor - the Sony Cyber-shot RX100 III - and Panasonic's new Lumix DMC-LX100 is also noticeably quicker. Low light performance isn't great, either. Another surprise was how often the G7 X display the 'yellow box of doom', which means that it was unable to lock focus. While more common in low light, it occurred more than one would expect in good light.
Unfortunately the unreliable AF system will send many users to manual focus. Unfortunately, the MF system needs work, as you'll see on our Shooting Experience page.[/quot]
[quot]Performance-wise the camera left me feeling a bit cold. Focus times are sluggish in both good and low light, and the G7 X gave me the 'I can't focus' yellow box more than I would've liked. [/quot]
[quot]One area in which the Canon PowerShot G7 X is not competitive is battery life. The camera will last for just 210 shots on a charge (CIPA standard), which pales in comparison to the Sony RX100 III's 320 shots. That's lower than the PowerShot S120 (230 shots)[/quot]
вот другое мнение, Richard Butler
[quot]However, as I said, I didn't enjoy the G7 X as much as I was hoping. For a start, the autofocus is too slow. Slow enough that you notice yourself waiting for it: something I've not encountered in a while. Secondly, the camera's preview doesn't always represent the results the camera is going to give until you half-press the shutter button. The upshot is that you assess the scene based on the preview's brightness, dial in some exposure compensation, then get a totally different result as soon as you half-press. At which point you try to compensate for the excessive compensation you've applied and are reminded that the dial operates the opposite direction to every other camera you've ever used, meaning you have to compensate for your compensated compensation. Then the battery runs out, because it's too small.[/quot]
несмотря на достаточно технически безграмотные рассуждения в этой теме форума что у зумов разрешение/резкость не меняются в зависимости от фокусных, сюрпризов нет и дпревью это подтверждает:
[quot]Not surprisingly,
photo sharpness varies depending on the focal length and aperture. In the sample above, taken at F4 near the wide end of the lens, the center of the frame is sharp, though things get blurry as you near the edges of the frame.
In our testing we found this to be the case: at wide-angle the lens is pretty soft in the corners. When you hit 35-50mm the corners look a lot better, even with the lens wide open. That trend continues until you reach 100mm, at which point the whole scene gets soft until you stop the lens down to around F4. The takeaway from this is that you probably won't get great results when shooting at F2.8 at full telephoto. [/quot]
[quot]Poor battery life
Slow continuous shooting and shot-to-shot speeds with Raw images
Focusing can inconsistent
Manual focus has low quality preview, limited magnification, and requires a lot of dial-spinning
No 24p video option
Menu operation can be sluggish
Exposure compensation dial is hard to reach, difficult to turn
Small, cluttered controls on rear of camera[/quot]
