Windows V1.3.1 Release Candidates #5

Valued C1 Users,

Below please find links to the installers for what we think will be the final release version of V1.3.1. This is known as a Release candidata, because we expect that we have fixed all bugs and added all features that will be part of the V1.3.1 release. Please feel free to download and install this version. Should you find any bugs, please post to the appropriate discussion forum here at PictureFlow.com.

While we believe these Release Candidates to be free of serious bugs, there is always a chance that a new problem can be introduced. If you decide to run a Release Candidate, you are doing so at your own risk.

Please download the appropriate version from the links below and install on your machine. It will install OVER your current V1.3 version, leaving your activation and preferences in place. If you have not yet installed V1.3, then you will have to activate and set all your preference again, including the Preview Cache location.

Some of the changes added to V1.3.1` from V1.3 are noted here...

1 - Canon Tone Curves are restored to V1.2 (Win) and naming and values. New High Contrast Curve is added. So now 4 tone curves on Canon and the original 3 on Nikon. Curves are slightly different between Mac and Windows, but this will be resolved in the May release.

2 - There is now an option of when to check for a new version of software on the web, so no more dial-up issues upon start. You can set for Never, so many days, or each time you start up, or check now. Go to the Help Menu to set this.

3 - Faulty message that said that the program was not activated will no longer display.

4 - 180 degree rotation has been added.

5 - The Canon internal numbering bug that caused C1 to use the same preview and workfile for Canon faulty images is now adapted for in C1 Win. This will fix duplicate previews, wrong sorting, and confused operation. This was all caused by a Canon bug. We now have written code that takes the Canon bug into account.

6 - The sort order of thumbnails by date has been corrected.

7 - Grouped Tagged files will always be grouped at the top, regardless of whether reverse order is set or not.

8 - When sharpening is disabled in the preferences, it is truly disabled. In the past there was a small amount of sharpening applied to the output files differing by camera. This acted as a capture sharpening, so you may want to adapt your workflow to add some sharpening to the output files, to achieve the same results as before. Note that setting the sharpening Amount to 0 (zero), does not cancel sharpening, but sets it to the lowest setting. You can truly disable by using the preference setting or by raising the Threshold to the highest level.

RC5 fixes:
9 - Archive/Restore function is now fixed from previous RC 3/4 versions. If you have archived in RC3/4, please repeat this archive as the archived work files will not be able to be restored.

10 - Preview Cache Clearing problems in earlier RC versions fixed.

11 - Restore to Saved Wb fixed.

We plan to officially release the final V1.3.1 version (with no changes) on 24 Feb or near that date.

Thanks in advance for your help and cooperation. It is appreciated.

Note:
In the RC 3/4 versions the settings files (.work files) were written incorectly. This caused them to not be able to be resotred from an archive, and also not to be seen by the corrected RC5 release. So all settings made in the RC3/4 releases will be ignored by RC 5 and beyond. We hope to issue a utility to modify the RC 3/4 .work files to be compatable with the all future versions. All official releases are not affected and their work files will function properly.
